| NewsThere's Still Time to Add Your Name to the 2008-2009 Honor Roll! The end of the giving year is fast approaching on August 31! Be sure that you’re listed on the next published Honor Roll of Donors by making your donation before the giving year ends. A few of our donors recently shared the influence that the fraternity has had on them, and why they support Chi Phi in their alumni years: • “My best friends are my fraternity brothers.” • “Chi Phi has allowed me to be a strong relationship builder, which has helped me in my career. More importantly, it’s allowed me to be a happier person.” • “I would say the fraternity has completely influenced the person I am today.” Hasn’t Chi Phi had a similar impact on you too? Let us know the ways it has – and make your annual fund donation – before the giving year ends August 31. Continued... Your Email Address Is Worth $1,051 To Us,With the cost of a hard copy newsletter being approximately 50 cents to print, and the price of a postage stamp now at 44 cents, it costs approximately $1,051 to mail each edition of our printed newsletter. By providing us with your email address, you are literally putting $1 back into the wallet of Chi Phi at The University of Michigan. Do you have a new email address to share, or prefer to receive our monthly e-letter at a different email address? Click here to update your email address and other contact information today. Your email address will be used solely for Alpha-Tau Chapter communications, and won’t be traded or sold. By updating our email database, we can begin relying more on electronic communications and decrease the frequency of print publications. Did you know that we’re missing email addresses for 59% of our alumni? Help us to update the email addresses of other brothers! Click here to view our Lost Email List. If you are in touch with any of these brothers electronically, please follow the instructions on the page to update our database. Continued... Michigan Stadium Renovations Continue! See Progress on Webcams! The three-year renovation of Michigan Stadium continues, even when we are not here to watch Michigan play. Since the end of November work has focused on finishing the exterior of the grandstands (with the exception of the west skybox which will be completed from November 2009 - August 2010). UM's Architecture, Engineering and Construction Department has a series of web pages devoted to the project, including several webcams that allow you to see the progress that's been made: Continued... Interact with Chi Phi BrothersWe’re excited to introduce a new place in our new alumni community, where you can interact directly with groups of Chi Phi brothers. You can participate in the brotherhood community, create a new group for you and your friends, or join an existing one! Within each group’s page, the members have control over the content. You can upload and share links, videos, photos, events and comments with other members. Create and/or join as many groups as you’d like...such as a group for your pledge class, another for alumni in your major/career field, and maybe another for brothers in your state/region. Click here to get started! Continued... Share your Chi Phi Memories with Us!During a recent visit to the chapter house, I asked an undergrad to meet me on the second floor in front of the Omi chart. The undergrad had this blank look in his face and had no idea where to go. I was a bit shocked by this and naturally figured he knew what I was talking about. Whether it’s the Omi chart, Crazyhorse bottle, tube room, tacky triple, cold dorm or the cave, we all have individual stories, items, and places that we uniquely associate with our time living in the house or being a member of the fraternity. Each new generation of brothers will have their own unique experiences and memories living in the house. However, I think it’s important that future members of the house have some idea of what it was like live in the house in the past.
Over the next 18 months, we will be making an ambitious effort to collect individual accounts of what it was like to be a member of the fraternity. Whether it is explaining what it was like to sleep barrack style in the 1940s, what dinner time was like in the 1960s, or a memorable road trip to Madison in the 1990’s, we want to preserve those memories of chapter life. The stories will be compiled in book form and available to all of our alumni. Submissions can be sent to me at jbstoops@yahoo.com, or I can provide my mailing address if you call me at 734-513-9115.
Or click here to share your stories and experiences from your time in Chi Phi on our message boards.
I encourage all of you to participate so that our Alpha-Tau memories are substantial and encompass all of our past generations.
Fraternally, Jason Stoops Continued... All News |
